How to Spend 5 Days on Siquijor, Philippines

Siquijor, often called the "Island of Fire," is one of the most underrated destinations in the Philippines. With its mystical charm, stunning beaches, enchanting waterfalls, and incredible marine life, it's the perfect place to slow down and soak up island life.

We spent five days in Siquijor with our son Jax, and it turned out to be one of our favorite stops in the Philippines. If you're planning to visit, here’s the perfect 5-day Siquijor itinerary to help you make the most of your trip. You can read an indepth review on our time in Siquijor here

Day 1: Arriving & Exploring San Juan

Morning: Arrive in Siquijor & Settle In

  • Whether you're arriving from Dumaguete or Bohol, the best way to reach Siquijor is by ferry.

  • Once you arrive at Siquijor Pier, grab a tricycle or arrange a transfer to San Juan, the island’s most popular tourist hub. A tricycle is a lot cheaper than a private transfer and you won't have any issues getting one as you come out of the port.

  • We stayed at White Bada Guest House, which had a great location near the beach and was perfect for families. We would highly recommend staying here as it really was a perfect location.

  • Spend the rest of your afternoon / evening chilling and getting used to your surroundings. Our first night we ate dinner next door at Salawaki Restaurant

Day 2: A Relaxed Day in San Juan

After a day of travel and adventure, sometimes you just need a slower day to recharge—and that’s exactly what we did on our first full day in Siquijor.

Morning: A Leisurely Walk & Lunch

Start your day with a relaxed stroll along San Juan, taking in the island vibes and stopping at a beachfront café for a laid-back lunch. There are plenty of small restaurants along the coast offering everything from traditional Filipino dishes to international favorites and lots with fantasic views.

Afternoon: Relax & Unwind

Spend the afternoon at one of San Juan’s many beachside bars, catching up on world schooling (if you're traveling with kids), reading a book, or simply soaking up the sun. Siquijor is the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the island's peaceful atmosphere.

Evening: Sunset & Happy Hour at Rogelio’s Beach Bar

As the sun begins to set, head to Rogelio’s Beach Bar and Restaurant—a fantastic spot right on the beach in San Juan. With happy hour from 4–7 PM, you can sip on 45 PHP (60p) rum and cokes or 70 PHP (£1) gin and tonics while watching the sky turn golden.

Rogelio’s is a lively spot with great music, a welcoming vibe, and plenty of space for families. Jax even got to request his favorite songs, and the staff were more than happy to play them. The food menu offers a mix of Filipino and Western dishes, and if you stop by, make sure to try the mozzarella sticks—they were absolutely delicious!

By the end of the night, you’ll feel totally settled into island life, ready for more adventure in Siquijor.

Day 3: Island Road Trip & Secret Beaches

Morning: Rent a Scooter or Hire a Tricycle

  • The best way to explore Siquijor is by renting a scooter (₱300–₱350 per day) or hiring a tricycle for the day. We actually hired a car for £24 for the day - just make sure you check the car over before you accept it.

  • Head to Tubod Marine Sanctuary, one of the best snorkelling spots on the island, the marine life here is fantastic

  • Drive along the coastal road all around the island and stop at beautiful spots along the way.

Afternoon: Make your way to Cambugahay Falls & Tarzan Swing

  • Lunch time at Cambugahay Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Philippines.

  • Kids (and adults!) will love the Tarzan swing—perfect for a fun morning swim.

  • The entrance fee is ₱20 per person, and swings cost ₱50 for unlimited jumps.

Evening: Beach Time at Paliton Beach

  • Head to Paliton Beach, often compared to Boracay but without the crowds.

  • This spot is perfect for swimming, playing in the sand, and watching the sunset.

  • Bring snacks or grab freshly cooked food and coconuts from the beach vendors.

  • Head back to White Bada and across the road to Tipsy Bar for a beautiful dinner, a few drinks, relaxed vibes and board games.

  • Swim with giant sea turtles, explore vibrant coral reefs, and enjoy the crystal-clear waters.

  • Tours usually start early and include snorkelling gear, lunch, and guide fees.

Evening: Relax & Enjoy the Slow Island Vibe

  • After an adventurous day, take it easy with a relaxed dinner at a beachfront café.

  • Try Voodoo Bar for delicious cocktails and lightbites

Day 5: Final Beach Day

Morning: One Last Beach Swim

  • Grab breakfast at Shaka Café as it is a great place for smoothie bowls and Chia pudding.

  • Spend your last day at Tubod Beach, soaking up the last bit of island magic and snorkelling the incredible reef one last time.
