24 Hours In Luxembourg

So yep, we spent a mere 24 in Luxembourg on our way down to the South of France in 2022, one of the benefits of having the van is that we get to do stuff like this.

We went because we were both of the opinion we probably wouldn't go back and may as well tick it off the list but OMG were we in for a shock... Luxembourg is STUNNING and we will certainly be back when we have more time to explore.

So where did we stay - We follow an Instagram account called @vw_travellers and I noticed they had been to Luxembourg and they recommended a campsite called Camping Bissen and so we gave it a try, luckily they had 1 space left as they were almost fully booked so we managed to squeeze in. We arrived at the campsite at around 8pm but we could see just how stunning it was set right on the river Sure nestled down in the mountains. They have a play park and an indoor soft play for the kids. The restaurant looked lovely too right along the river. The camp site was actually everything and we would 100% stay here again - I think we paid around €20 - €25 for the night with EHU

What did we do - As we only had limited time and we didn't want to leave without at least seeing some of Luxembourg so we packed up the van and headed to a placed Vianden which is around a 40 minute drive from Camping Bissen

Vianden is a picturesque town right on the border with Germany. Famous for the Vianden castle and the only chairlift in Luxembourg. We went on the chairlift that takes you up over the Our valley and river to some incredibly stunning views. Up the top we relaxed and enjoyed the views with an ice cream and a beer in the cafe before heading back down. The Chairlift cost €5 per adult and €2.5 per child up to age 14.

The views going up and coming down were absolutely breathtaking - Luxembourg is so green and hilly - nothing like what we had in mind at all. We really can't wait to come back and stay for longer and explore more of the country.

If you travel here by van make sure you fill up before you leave as the fuel here is very cheap and certainly a lot cheaper than the surrounding countries.

If we’ve inspired you, how about treating us to an ice cream? Jax is an absolute ice cream lover, and we’d be so grateful. Plus, it would help us save a little for our next adventure—talk about a win-win! Thank you for being part of our journey!
